So Chogrin and the rest of us at The Autumn Society are always up for a themed blog.
Case in point: Fill Up Your Hearts is the latest and greatest with regards to all things Legend of Zelda. As it’s practically hours until the newest installment reaches our snowy, Canadian, store shelves, I thought it appropriate to share my offering to such a wonderful series.
If it’s one thing the Zelda franchise has, and one of the reasons why I love it so, it’s a rich variety of flora and fauna. So with that in mind, I opted to appropriate Charley Harper’s opus of brilliance, the Golden Book of Biology, into a Hyrulean version. I won’t pretend to even come close to Harper’s excellence but I think he’d be cool with how much fun I had with this.
Oh and if you’re keen for a print, be sure to email me visit the shop!

This month over at Planet-Pulp the theme is sitcoms. I took this as a perfect excuse to try out a bit of pixel illustration with a visual mash-up of Final Fantasy (roughly FF6 era) and The Big Bang theory.

The style may be a one-off but dang it was fun to do!

I just squeaked these in for the August theme over at Planet-Pulp! The set of travel posters is for one of my favourite game environments: Zebes from the Metroid series. It’s almost a character in its own right.

And if you played Super Metroid, you know the solace in discovering the dachora and etecoons in amongst all the deadly lifeforms.

SUPER UPDATE!
A limited number of each of these prints are now available at my all new shop! Feel free to peruse at your leisure.

I keep posting videos about the Super iam8bit show but have blanked on actually posting my contribution. Here are the individual characters that make up what my piece is: a giant installation of swappable cards of the characters’ head, body, and feet!

Next post will better illustrate how this all works. I promise.

Alright, so showing how an installation piece functions is a wonderful challenge. Using modern animated-gif technology, here is the basic workings of my iam8bit contribution. Each of the characters were separated to allow participants to create new and wonderful creations.
It was a whole mess of fun watching people mix and match, and I couldn’t have been more thrilled with how it all turned out. Thanks iam8bit crew and to the fine folks who could attend the show!

Since I missed yesterday (in what is intended to be a week of these toys) I’m uploading a second pair today! The robots from Portal 2 (Atlas and P-Body) are one of the main pairs that inspired the series. Though I’ll admit I’ve never played either game in the series, I do love their design.
